By Don Stone - Football Atlanta
I didn't do too bad on my
Week One picks. Certainly better than the network pre-game experts. I was
right on Denver over Baltimore, KC over Jax, the Pats over the Bills, the
Dolphins beating the Bills, 49ers over the Pack, Tennessee over Pittsburgh,
Detroit over Minnesota, the Rams over the Cardinals, Indy over Oakland, the
Texans over the Chargers and the Cowboys over the Giants.
Didn't do so well when the Saints beat the Falcons, the Bears beat
the Bengals, the Jets won over the Bucs, Seahawks beat the Panthers, and
Skins lost to the revitalized Eagles.
So, lets see, I was 11-5. Not bad, but I wouldn't have won
any money had I decided to bet on all of them.
This week will be better.
I never bet on football.
I pick New England to handle the Jets, the Falcons to get in the win column
hosting the Rams, Carolina to do the same at Buffalo, and the Bears to beat
their division rival Vikings at home.
Panic should start setting in at DC when the Redskins go 0-2 at
Green Bay. Miami should do well on the road at Indianapolis with Dallas
doing the same at Kansas City. Cleveland won't be competitive at Baltimore.
Neither will the Titans at their old hometown in Houston. San Diego will be
gasping for breath unable to keep up with the speedy Eagles.
In Sunday's late games, the Lions will prevail at Arizona. The
Saints will find an opponent in disarray in Tampa with lots of in house
dissension and come away 2-0.
In a game only the home town teams will care about, the Raiders
should beat the hapless Jags at home. A battle of the Mannings should see
Peyton on top at New York. Probably the best game of the week will find San
Francisco giving Seattle their first loss. Should be a good one, though.
Finally, Monday night will give Cincinnati their first win against
the winless Steelers.
But, I could be wrong.
